Poor Josh Hutcherson is always getting the short end of the stick. Because when he’s not stuck fighting for his life in The Hunger Games, he’s trying to survive against a creepy drug lord played by Benicio Del Toro in Paradise Lost.
Directed by Andrea Di Stefano, the film has Hutcherson taking on the role of a surfer named Nick, who ends up falling in love with a Colombian woman named Maria (Claudia Traisac). That is, until her uncle, the infamous drug dealer Pablo Escobar (Del Toro), gets in the way.
While this is the first teaser for the film, it’s clear things get super intense between the two characters. While their friendship seems good at first, it’s not long until their relationship turns sour. As Del Toro’s character tells him, “No one escapes Pablo Escobar.”
The film is based on true events surrounding Pablo Escobar, who was known as “The King of Cocaine.” While it doesn’t quite bill itself as a biopic, we can all agree that Del Toro’s portrayal of the drug lord gives us the chills!
No release date for the film has been announced yet.
